Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 1:20, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ.” I’m thinking about that statement in light of the promise for atonement and justification today. It’s a beautiful statement no matter which way your meditative thoughts drift. Holding up the “YES” in Christ are a series of commandments in the Old Testament. One of the commandments that I am most grateful for is the one which sent Adam and Eve out of the garden…never to eat of the tree of life. You see…I’d much rather have my Mortality now and the promise of the right kind of Immortality later than to have eaten of the tree of life at a time when I would have lived forever outside the presence of my Holy Father.
Our Father knew the eternal danger that lay before mankind…so he gave the NO command…so he could give the right kind of YES to Life in Christ. Never has their been a more grace-filled command than this! Isn’t it amazing how the commands of God have led to this most perfect “YES” in Christ? God has, from the beginning of time, been orchestrating His story so that the “Yes” in Christ would be the perfect answer to all of our needs.
What, in particular, excites you about the “Yes” you have received in Christ?

Uppermost for me…just now…is the thought that Jesus is God’s “Yes” to finishing the work He has begun in me. One of these days I’m going to be like Him. Exactly what I shall be is still a mystery, BUT I shall be like Him, for I shall see Him even as He is (1 John 3:2). I can’t tell you how weary I am of being unlike Him. I wonder what it would be like to be free of selfishness…absolutely free. To never have to second guess my own motives…to actually and always seek the interest of others above my own…to be gloriously able to see another honored or blessed and be deeply glad and joyful over it, even though it wasn’t me…to not believe, feel or act like the world revolves around me…this would be life much more as Jesus lived it. One of these days…Yes…Lord!

All of the blessings he provides in my life on a daily basis. Yes, I am suffering from various illnesses and migraines but God is a God who always provides and that excites me about Him. Great post.
Keep up the great work!

Preacherman,
I went to your blog and read a bit about your struggles. I’ll be praying for your healing and if not that…your continued vision to see the Father’s promises in the midst of your storms.
BTW – When did you graduate LCU? I finished in 2001 and continued with an online Masters through 2007. Just curious to know if we would have met before. Peace, my brother.
